Waleli was founded in 2002 by Siete Hamminga. In 2004, several investors joined including the private equity branch of Shell. In the years that followed Waleli created several innovations, acquired shares in several ventures and won a number of innovation awards. Recently the American magazine "Red Herring" called Waleli “..one of Europe’s most promising ICT company’s”.
